A train journey that dazzles kids – and adults too

You are not far from the Belgian Ardennes. The Trois Vallées tourist train is one of the last steam trains. It takes travellers on a journey through the Viroinval Nature Park. You’ll witness rich and abundant nature, marked by rocky outcroppings, oak forests, streams and flower-filled meadows.

Step aboard a steam-engine time machine

You are immediately excited when the steam train arrives: the noise of the wheels on the rails, the whistling of the locomotive and the huge cloud of steam. We defy you not to be moved!

Once you reach the train station, you board the historic train and set off on a trip down memory lane. You open the accordion-style doors, climb up the large steps and feel small. But all is well. You sit on old benches with endless stories to tell. They aren’t very comfortable, but that’s precisely what we like about them. It’s authentic, unique, exhilarating.

Have fun with this museum

The train takes us a few kilometres through the Calestienne region, which is unique within Belgium and marked by a striking relief. The journey starts from Mariembourg and ends up in Treignes.

Once you arrive, you have the opportunity to discover the Railway Museum. Old captains’ uniforms, miniature trains, collector’s panels: this museum is considered to be one of the best ‘network-museums’ in Europe and is beloved by visitors of all ages.
